More details about the country
Belarus is one of the relatively small landlocked countries in Eastern Europe. Until it gained independence in 1991, it was one of the Slavic republics which made up the Soviet Union. Currently, it is a sovereign state which has a republic form of government with two legislative houses. Its neighbors include Lithuania and Latvia at its northwestern borders, Russia at the northern and eastern borders, Ukraine at the southern and Poland at the western. It is a country with a relatively flat terrain consisting mostly of lowlands separated by low level-topped hills and uplands. The largest of the ridges in the sovereign state, the Belarusian Ridge, extends from the border with Poland, then on the southwest and from there to the north of Minsk where it widens into the Minsk Upland. Minsk is the capital city of Belarus and also one of its largest cities.
Belarus can provide excellent opportunities to receive a high-quality academic degree. This is due to the extensive list of universities that the country has as well as the impressive list of programs available. Many of the universities for which a student can apply are accredited by world associations, with examples including UNESCO, WHO, and MCI. Among the frequently-chosen fields are Economics, Management, IT, Education, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Marketing, Physical Education and Psychology. Tuition fees also tend to be relatively lower compared to other countries in Europe and often include textbooks in their costs which are distributed by the institution’s library. Should a student require scholarships, there are different programs and organizations which can provide them if the student meets the requirements such as maintaining their grades. There are also relatively high chances of receiving a long-term job within the chosen field of expertise after graduation as having a diploma from university is highly valued in the country. However, certain factors should be taken into consideration before applying. To begin with, not all courses may be available in English and if the student does not know Russian or Belarusian, they may have to take an immersion course which can take up to several months. Another factor worth consideration is that a student will need to have a visa to apply and study in the country. Therefore, it is important that proper care and planning is taken to ensure that all documents needed for the visa are ready and sent in advance.
