Central African Republic (CAR)

The Central African Republic (alternative spelling: CAR) is a landlocked country located in the center of Africa. It is a former French colony that gained its independence in 1960, with its current form of government being a multiparty republic with one legislative house. CAR is bordered by the countries Chad, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. The capital of Bangui is situated on the southern boundary, on the banks of the Ubangi River, which is a tributary of the Congo River.

At a glance, the Central African Republic appears as an unfavorable location to pursue higher education, particularly given some of the events which have transpired in recent years. However, the country can provide certain benefits when it comes to obtaining an academic degree. These include being able to choose between multiple subjects such as Agriculture, Arts, Business, Education, Technology, International Relations, Philosophy, and Archeology. In addition, tuition fees are less costly than compared to countries such as France or Belgium. Moreover, the sovereign state also provides the opportunity to practice foreign languages such as French. This is due to this tongue being is one of the official languages alongside the exotic Sango. There are also quite a few opportunities to participate in volunteer work such as assisting displaced families, providing medical help, strengthening community organizations related to human rights, teaching children, training vulnerable people and helping them acquire income-generating skills, as well as providing aid in setting up village saving and loan groups.
