More details about the country
Dominica, also commonly known as the Commonwealth of Dominica, is a Lesser Antilles island country in the eastern part of the Caribbean Sea. It is located between the French islands of Guadeloupe, Marie-Galante, and Martinique. It is a multiparty republic with one legislative house that has been a member of the Commonwealth since gaining its independence in 1978. It is a country often visited by tourists due to the beauty of its mountainous topography as well as the many species of animal and plant which can be found. The Commonwealth of Dominica’s capital and main port is Roseau.
While the country does not boast an extensive list of universities, it does compensate by providing in-depth training on a variety of subjects including Business, Philosophy, Law & Jurisprudence, Arts, Psychology, Applied Sciences & Professions, Medicine, Administration, and Education. In addition, many of the programs available are taught in English or French, permitting a student to practice and hone their ability to understand and communicate in these languages. Apart from these advantages, students can immerse themselves in the culture and nature of the country through the various available volunteer programs as well as an exchange program. Many of these programs pertain to wildlife conservation, emergency humanitarian care, teaching children, providing health care and sanitation help. It should be noted, however, that in order for a student to be accepted in one of the universities, they need to provide proof that they can provide for themselves financially. This can be effectively handled by working at a local business during their studies.
