More details about the country
Finland is a sovereign country located in northern Europe and is one of the most northern and geographically remote countries in the world. It is an independent state where nearly two-thirds of the land is covered with thick woodlands. As a result, the country holds the position of the most densely forested sovereign state in Europe in addition to forming a symbolic northern border between western and eastern Europe. Finland shares borders with Norway, Russia, the Gulf of Finland, the Gulf of Bothnia, and Sweden with its territory including the autonomous territory of Ă…land - an archipelago found at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia. About one-third of the territory of Finland is found north of the Arctic Circle. Helsinki (Helsingfors) is the capital of Finland as well as the leading seaport and industrial city of the country. It can be found on a peninsula, fringed by fine natural harbors in the far south of the country.
Finland is among the countries which hold the highest ranks in the world education ranking system. There are several reasons for this sovereign state to hold such a high position in education ranking systems such as that of the United Nations. These include the rather exhaustive list of universities with the number of accredited and internationally recognized institutions reaching about 50. Also, the country provides a broad range of subjects which a student can choose to study, with favored choices including Business, Education, Administration, Management, Engineering, Arts, Health, Computer Science, and Technology. Apart from the previously-mentioned advantages, Finland is also a suitable location to practice foreign languages such as English, Finnish and Swedish who are the most commonly spoken in the country. Also, English tends to be the language used for many of the available courses. The sovereign state furthermore provides internships in popular subjects such as Technology, Manufacturing, and Retail, which in turn allows students to gain valuable skills in professions related to these and other fields of study. It should be noted that tuitions fees can be a bit costly within the country. However, there are scholarships that international students can take advantage of. Another detail one should bear in mind is that some of the universities if not all of them require taking an entry exam that examines analytic and critical thinking skills by using short essay-type questions. Also, applying for a visa if one is from a non-EU/EEA country can be challenging as the students must provide proof of being able to support themselves while living in Finland.
