    More details about the country

Ghana is a West African whose neighbors include Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Togo. It is also among the sovereign states with access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Gulf of Guinea. The nation is a member of several organizations including the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Group of 24 as well as the Commonwealth of Nations. It one of the world’s largest cocoa and gold producers in the world, taking the second and eighth places, respectively. The country is also home to the largest in surface area artificial lake in the world - Lake Volta. Ghana also holds the position as the first African nation to gain independence with the sovereign state accomplishing this feat in 1957. The capital and largest city in the country is Accra, a city which partly lies on a cliff with a height ranging between 25 to 40 feet. Due to its position the capital tends to experience earthquakes every once in a while.

Despite its location and the disrepute of many of its neighbors, Ghana should be considered as a worthwhile location to study abroad. There are several reasons why a student should consider this country as a location for obtaining an academic degree. To begin with, the sovereign state offers a surprisingly exhaustive list of accredited and internationally recognized institutions of higher education ranging between 60 to 70. Similarly, the range of available fields of study is also quite extensive, with popular subjects being Management, Business, Accounting, Finance & Banking, IT, Marketing, Computer Science, Arts, Economics, Administration and Medicine. Tuition fees are furthermore less costly than compared to countries such as France, Australia or the USA. Likewise, the costs for day-to-day expenses such as food, clothing, and transport are quite moderate while the standard of living is high. As a result, students will be able to concentrate on their studies without having to worry about rapidly-decreasing savings. Apart from these advantages, Ghana is a country that provides plenty of opportunities to participate in an internship and/or volunteer program. For instance, students can become a part of projects related to International Development, Healthcare, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, Business, Media, Sports Coaching, Education, and Environmental Conservation. Such opportunities can be quite worthwhile as such projects allow a student to hone practical skills such as communicating in a foreign language like English or gathering data for research.
