Indonesia is a country situated in Southeastern Asia. It consists of an archipelago with over 17,000 islands and is located between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Around 6,000 of the islands are inhabited and feature varying terrain. Indonesia is a country rich in natural resources such as petroleum timber, bauxite, tin and others. It is also a country renowned for its natural beauty including its many active volcanoes as well as its rich culture, making the country a popular tourist destination. The capital, Jakarta, can be found near the northwestern coast of one of the largest islands, Java.

As already mentioned, Indonesia is a popular tourist destination due to different factors such as its culture. However, one should also consider the country as a worthwhile study abroad location. This is due to the Indonesia’s extensive list of over 300 available and accredited institutions of higher education. Likewise, the sovereign state offers a broad range of subjects, with popular selections including Engineering, Management, Economics, Accounting, Law & Jurisprudence, Education, Business, Agriculture and Computer Science. The country furthermore is a suitable location to gain practical skills via internship and/or volunteer programs in the fields of Journalism and Media, Finance and Tourism. In addition to the previously-mentioned advantages, Indonesia is also a country where one or more foreign languages can be studied, such as Arabic, Indonesian, English and others. There are furthermore many opportunities to find a suitable long-term job after graduation, especially within the petroleum, textile or chemical industries. However, one should bear in mind that tuition fees can vary rather greatly, and some universities may have a dress code which must not be broken.
