    More details about the country

Jordan, alternatively known as Al-Mamlakah al-Urdunīyah al-Hāshimīyah, Al-Urdun, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is an independent country in Southwest Asia, and situated in the northern Arabian Peninsula’s rocky desert. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan shares borders with Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the West Bank. The West Bank area in question was under Jordanian rule from 1948 to 1967, but in 1988 the sovereign state renounced its claims to the area. Jordan has 16 miles of coastline on the Gulf of Aqaba, where the kingdom’s only port, Al-ʿAqabah, is located.

Jordan, despite its location, should be considered a suitable location to obtain an academic degree. This is due to the country having an extensive list of accredited institutions of higher education. Most of the universities in the list can be found in the capital Amman, with the remaining ones distributed throughout the country’s cities. Apart from the many universities with international recognition, the country also offers a wide range of subjects which can be studied including Philology, Archeology, Arts, Finance & Banking, Design, Accounting, Hospitality and Tourism, Management, Marketing, Nursing, Law & Jurisprudence, Business, Engineering, Information technology, Computer Science and others. In addition, Jordan is a suitable location to practice both English and Arabic as these are widely spoken languages. English, for instance, is the tongue in which many of the education programs can be found, whereas Arabic is the sovereign state’s official tongue. Yet, while the country can provide certain advantages when it comes to studying abroad, there is a certain factor which should not be ignored. Namely, certain institutions of higher education including their campuses may have a dress code which students must adhere to. Similarly, many areas outside the campuses have a code of dress which must be followed.
