    More details about the country

Kenya, officially known as Jamhuri Ya Kenya and the Republic of Kenya, is an independent country in East Africa renowned as a popular tourist destination due to its lovely landscapes, large wildlife preserves and picturesque beaches on the Indian Ocean. It is a country which shares borders with South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and Lake Victoria. The capital of the country is Nairobi, and can be found in the south-central part of the sovereign state, at an elevation of 5,500 feet in the highlands. It lies about 300 miles northwest of Mombasa, the country’s main port on the Indian Ocean.

Although Kenya is located in Africa and has quite a few countries with high levels of poverty surrounding it, it can be considered a worthwhile location to study abroad. To begin with, the country has a rather extensive list of accredited universities which offer a wide range of available subjects including Business, Management, Information Technologies, Computer Science, Engineering, Education, Sociology, Communication, Technology and others. Furthermore, the country is also a suitable location to practice English and Swahili as these are the most commonly spoken languages in the country. In this regard, one should bear in mind that certain programs may not be available in English; therefore a preparation language course may be needed. Another factor which should be considered lest it becomes a hindrance is that tuition fees can vary greatly, especially for institutions of higher education in Nairobi, the capital. The country is also a suitable location to participate in internships, particularly ones with a focus on Conservation Studies, Healthcare and Business.
