More details about the country
Lesotho, officially known as Basutoland/Kingdom of Lesotho, is an independent enclave country in Southern Africa. It is a constitutional monarchy with two legislative houses, with the current head of state being King Letsie III. It is a sovereign state which forms an enclave within South Africa with the borders being on three of the latter’s provinces: Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and Eastern Cape. Due to its geographic location and status, Lesotho depends on South Africa for access to the outside world, similar to Vatican City and the Republic of San Marino. The capital and largest urban center is Maseru, which can be found on the left bank of the Caledon River.
Lesotho would appear to be an unsuitable location to study abroad partly due to its location and relatively small size. However, the country can be of significant help to students seeking to obtain an academic degree and attain a higher education. While the country does have a relatively limited number of institutions of higher education, it does provide in-depth training on a broad range of subjects including Arts, Culturology, Sociology, Education, Technology, Philology, Political Science, Philosophy, Humanities, and Law & Jurisprudence. In addition, the country is a suitable location to practice English as this language is one of the country’s official tongues due to its history as a British protectorate until gaining independence in 1966. The country furthermore is a suitable location to participate in internship and/or volunteer programs, especially in the fields of Agriculture, Business, Education, Marketing, Media, Medicine and others.
