Mexico, known by its alternative names of Estados Unidos Mexicanos/México/United Mexican States, is an independent country in southern North America. It is the third-largest country within Latin America, with a total land area of 758,450 square miles. The United Mexican States share a border with the countries of the United States as well as Guatemala and Belize. The country also has coastlines on the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. It is a country that has quite well-developed industries such as food, chemicals, tobacco, petroleum, iron and steel, textiles, mining, automobiles, and tourism. The country is, in addition, the world’s largest Spanish-speaking country by population. The capital of the country is Mexico City and its form of government is a federal republic with two legislative houses.

Mexico can be considered a worthwhile location to study abroad. This is due to several contributing factors such as the remarkably extensive list of accredited institutions of higher education and available subjects, the opportunity to practice an international language and participate in internships and volunteer programs. Mexico is a country which has a remarkable list of accredited universities including the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad Iberoamericana IBERO, the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and others. Also, the country’s universities offer a wide selection of subjects such as Engineering, Administration, Computer Science, Management, Education, Business, Law & Jurisprudence, Communication, Accounting, and Psychology. As previously mentioned, Mexico has the largest Spanish-speaking population in the world. The language is also used for many of the courses – as a result, students will be able to master communicating in one of the world’s most commonly spoken foreign languages used in fields of study such as Business. Furthermore, the country offers multiple opportunities to participate in internships, particularly ones pertaining to Journalism, Tourism, Hospitality, and Ecology. However, students should bear in mind that tuition fees can vary greatly depending on the institution of higher education and the city. A visa may also be necessary depending on the length of the study program of choice.
