    More details about the country

New Zealand, alternatively known as Aotearoa or the Dominion of New Zealand, is an island country located in the south part of the Pacific Ocean and is the southwestern-most part of Polynesia. It is a remote land lying over 1,000 miles southeast of its closest neighbor, Australia. New Zealand consists of two main islands and several smaller islets, with some of the smaller islets being several hundreds of miles away from the North and South Islands. The capital of the country and largest port city is Wellington, with the largest urban area being Auckland. Both can be found on the North Island. The country is a constitutional monarchy, with one legislative house with Governor-General being Dame Patsy Reddy and the Head of State being Queen Elizabeth II.

New Zealand is a popular tourist destination due to its diverse nature and interesting culture and architecture. However, it should also be considered as a suitable and worthwhile location to study abroad. The country has quite an array of accredited institutions of higher education including ones featured in the QS World University Rankings 2020 such as the University of Auckland, the University of Otago, the Victoria University of Wellington, the University of Canterbury, the University of Waikato, the Massey University, the Lincoln University and the Auckland University of Technology. New Zealand is furthermore a location where students can study a broad range of subjects such as Business, Management, Arts, Information Technologies, Nursing, Education, Engineering, Design, Health, and Marketing. The country also offers the opportunity to study online via some of its institutions of higher education. There are also available scholarships to counterbalance tuition fees that might be rather costly. In addition, New Zealand is an excellent location to practice English as this is the country’s official tongue.
