    More details about the country

Samoa, alternatively known as the Independent State of Western Samoa/Malo Sa’aloto Tuto’atasi o Samoa I Sisifo/Western Samoa, is a sovereign country situated in the central part of the South Pacific Ocean and is among Polynesia’s westernmost island countries. The capital and main port of the independent state is Apia, found on Upolu Island’s northern coast. The country consists of nine islands, namely the inhabited islands of Manono, Upolu, Savai‘i, Apolima, Namu‘a, Fanuatapu, Nu‘ulua, Nu‘utele, and Nu‘usafee, which are uninhabited. The sovereign state’s form of government is a mix of parliamentary democracy and Samoan customs with one legislative house.

Samoa can serve as a stepping stone in attaining higher education or obtaining an academic degree. While the country does have a rather limited list of accredited institutions of higher education, it does compromise in that each of the universities provides in-depth training on a variety of subjects such as Business, Medicine, Arts, Nursing, Health, Education, Agriculture, and others. In addition, the country’s official language is Samoan, but English is also widely spoken including during tuition, thus permitting students to practice communication in one or more foreign tongues. Furthermore, the Independent State of Western Samoa is often a location with many opportunities to participate in volunteer programs or internships, especially in the fields of Hospitality, Veterinary Medicine, Food Science & Nutrition, Archaeology, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, International Relations, Education, Journalism, and others. However, one should be aware that tuition fees can vary greatly, therefore proper planning and research should be done in advance regarding the institutions of higher education and study programs.
