    More details about the country

Serbia, alternatively known as Srbija, is an independent country in the west-central region of the Balkan Peninsula. The capital of the sovereign state is Belgrade (Beograd or Belgrad), a cosmopolitan city located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube. However, Serbia’s cultural and educational center is in Novi Sad, located upstream on the Danube. The country shares borders with the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro.

Serbia can be a worthwhile location to study abroad. This is due to several contributing factors including a broad range of available institutions of higher education and study subjects, tuition fee and costs of living affordability, the opportunity to participate in practical programs such as internships and others. The Republic of Serbia has a relatively exhaustive list of accredited universities, with many of them having international recognition such as the Metropolitan University, and the College of Business Economics and Entrepreneurship. Similarly, a relatively broad range of subjects can be studied within the country’s institutions of higher education, such as Computer Science, Information Technologies, Management, Engineering, Economics, Law & Jurisprudence, Arts, Business, Education, and Design. Furthermore, many of the study programs are available in English, permitting students to practice understanding and communicating in this widely spoken and frequently-used language. In addition, Serbia is among the countries where tuition fees and costs of living tend to be relatively less costly, while the standards of training and living are high. Students can also take advantage of working part-time if necessary.
